Roman Signer films at Lismore Castle Arts: St Carthage Hall
To celebrate the arrival of Roman Signer’s permanent sculpture at Lismore Castle Gardens, Lismore Castle Arts is delighted to present a selection of the artist’s films at St Carthage Hall. The films will run every Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 5 pm, and admission is free. The film programme will run from 12 June to 10 July 2011.
Roman Signer was born in Switzerland and works in sculpture, photography and video. His video work documents his performances and temporary sculptures, many of which involve setting up, carrying out, and recording experiments or events that bear aesthetic results. The artist enacts and records such acts as explosions, collisions, and the projection of objects through space. Signer gives a humorous twist to the concept of cause and effect and to the traditional scientific method of experimentation and discovery, his film work often referring to slapstick humor.
