Primary Postcards 2012
Lismore Castle Arts is currently inviting Primary Schools to participate in Primary Postcards 2012. This project has been designed with the intention of encouraging young talent. The project is running in association with our Artifice exhibition, which will feature works submitted by secondary schools throughout County Waterford.
Schools will be invited to visit Lismore Castle Gallery for a preview of the Artifice exhibition, where they will receive a presentation on contemporary art followed by a tour of the gallery. This will be followed by a workshop in which children will create sketches inspired by the colours, shapes and textures of the exhibiting artworks. At the end of each workshop, students will be presented with blank postcards to design using their sketches as a source of reference.
Subsequently each school will receive a visit from Lismore Castle Arts Education Officer. All postcards from the workshop will then be collected and presented in a pop-up class room exhibit from which a number of winners will be chosen for entry into a final exhibition.
Primary Postcards workshops will be held at Lismore Castle Arts for a period of three weeks running from 20th -29th March & 16th -20th April.
