JANUARY -MARCH 2018
Every Spring Lismore Castle Arts runs the A Space for Lismore project, which seeks to engage directly with the local community in Lismore. For 2018 we have invited Juneau Projects (Phil Duckworth and Ben Sadler) to develop a collaborative print project with members of the Lismore community to produce a series of linocut illustrations to be included in a publication.
The starting point for the project is David Nash’s work ‘Three Lismore Columns’ in the lower gardens at Lismore Castle. They will write a short science fiction style text that considers the sculpture from the perspective of the flora and fauna that encounter it: a fly landing on it, a mushroom growing next to it, a lichen spreading slowly on its surface.
The project makes up one half of a two part publication exploring the similarities between Lismore and rural Vermont, USA, working in collaboration with Two Chairs curatorial practice. The publication will examine the placement David Nash sculptures in both landscapes.
